How to Cure Windows Unexpected Crashes?

I hate unexpected Windows crashes, I am fortunate enough to finally cure it! If you face the same problems, you can try my experience…

Most of the unexpected Windows crashes comes from hardware driver, and some comes from bad software design. But the worst computer crashes is Operating System crashes, also known as BSOD (Blue Screen Of Dead). I think BSOD has strike most Windows user before XP Service Pack 2; Even after XP Service Pack 2, serious crashes still produce BSOD! This is system level of stability, it is almost impossible for Normal System Utilities to cure.

If the system is running smoothly before the installation of hardware or software, there is a high chances the crashes is cause by the Windows registry. The Windows registry may be corrupted in some way, causing the incorrect configuration and settings that produce unexpected crashes.

Windows registry needs regular maintenance with tools like Registry Easy and Eusing Registry Cleaner. Registry Easy is recommended for repairing some unexpected serious crashes, but the most important features is maintaining a healthy registry, user has a less chances to encounter an unexpected crashes. Registry Easy also provides backup and restore features, which helps to prevent crashes when registry corrupted. Because Windows user can always restore the corrupted registry.

Microsoft has a long term solution for Windows registry problem, but Unfortunately the solution will not be available in the near future. Not until .NET framework has be came the main stream! Because .Net framework does not requires Windows Registry as their core configuration database. .Net framework is using XML file to replace Windows Registry. So in theory there will be no unexpected crashes for .NET framework unless bad software design…

For now Windows user still needs some kind of registry software to maintain a healthy Windows, I would recommend Registry Easy. Registry Easy not only repair and remove unwanted windows entries, but also tune up windows for faster startup and better Internet connection! If you are looking for a free solution, Eusing will still be the best, although is not as Good as Registry Easy (too advance…), but it did provides enthusiast level of maintenance to the Windows User.

Finally, the best solution is prevention! If you ever need to re-install Windows, you should backup all your operating system, create a hard disk imaging backup whenever possible, I use Acronis True Image for the job. If you want to try my recommendataion, please click the Image below, download the trial and try for yourself:

Repair Extreme Slow Software Start-up

Your Software Launch very slow? Don’t know what is happening? See belows…

Windows XP SP2 is the most stable Operating System up until now, if not stable than Windows Vista, will also be equally stable! Some time user will still encounter extreme slow software startup, and the only way to cure this problem is to first identify it:
1. Check Network Adapter - Try to disable the network adapter and start the software again, if speed restore to normal, it is definitely the network problem!

2. Stop Video Accelerator - Try to disable all video acceleration features in the video card, if speed restore to normal, it is definitely the video card problem!

3. You should go to System Properties (Control Panel -> System), check on the hardware, device manager for any outstanding driver that is not install on your computer. You should install all drivers properly before going to the next step.

4. If these 3 areas is checked and doesnt help to restore the performance, then you need to try Registry Cleaner, there is a possibility the Windows registry might be too “dirty”… There are many types of registry cleaner on the market, but I only recommend Registry Easy and Regcure!

Registry Easy provides many advance features, not just only help repair registry problems, but also help to speed up windows by turning off some unused services. By doing so Windows should be able to launch faster, software should able to run faster. If none of the above mention method helps, you definitely need to re-install your Windows.

5. Your Windows is probably corrupted in many ways, to help solve this problem once and for all, re-install your Windows, use Hard Disk Imaging software such as Acronis True Image to backup your Windows after proper setup with all the drivers and necessary software. You may want to backup 1 copy for few installation, you may have multiple copy of Windows image in your backup, this is to help preserve and diagnose the actual problem cause by the particular hardware or software. You can easily restore the Windows to the previous stable state.

Best backup and recovery solution ever

With the above 5 steps, you should be able to repair the Extreme Slow Software Startup problem once and for all. If you still encounter problems after these 5 steps, it is time for you to change your hardware, which in most cases wont happen unless your computer has been working for 5~10 years! How to Repair Internet Explorer Running Slow ?

If your Internet Explorer Startup Slow, Launch Site Slow, After Add-On Slow, Extreme Slow on Vista or XP, Please take a minute to read this or contact me directly if you wish…

Before you go into the troubleshooting, try download Auslogics BoostSpeed (Free trial version will do) and test your internet speed as baseline. Auslogic can also be use as optimization tools for your computer and Internet connection…

Auslogic

Now, first step, if you are using Internet Explorer 7 (If not go and download the upgrade), please turn off the additional features for diagnostic, I am not asking you to permenantly turn it off, but rather for checking purpose:

  1. Turn off Phishing Filter (Tools->Phishing Filter) - clicking on Turn Off Automatic Web Site Checking.
  2. Turn off RSS Automatic Checking (Tools->Internet Options->Content->Feeds->Settings) - Uncheck “Turn on feed reading view”.
  3. Turn off ClearType font (Tools->Internet Options->Advanced) - Uncheck “Always use cleartype for HTML”
  4. Disable SSVHelper Class (Tools->Manage Add-ons->Enable or Disable Add-ons) - Look for SSVHelper Class, Select “Disable”.

If you are using Windows Vista, please disable unused network protocol (It is safe to disable it if you are not network user in office environment):

  1. QOS Packet Scheduler - Applied to XP too!
  2. File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks - Applied to XP too!
  3. Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) - Applied to XP too!
  4. Link Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver
  5. Link Layer Topology Responder

**If you are not sure how to do it, download the Hidden Secret of XP & Vista or contact me directly.

Then verify if your browser still slow (Which it should be, normally the features above will not slow you down, something else did! Always use Auslogic to test your Internet Speed in each testing.

Second step, you should check your hardware settings:

  1. Network Adapters (Control Panel -> Network Connections) - Make sure you have setup the DNS server properly, if you stay in United State, you can try OpenDNS to speed up your DNS response. Check the gateway IP Address, make sure it is correct.
  2. Network Router - Never connect the same cable with two ends into the same router! This sound a bit stupid but some rookie do that!
  3. Re-install all network or router driver.

If after second step your Internet Explorer still slow, there are only 2 reasons, you are either installed a slugish, Bad BHO (Browser Helper Object) / Add-On or hijack by Virus and Spyware! Please use the tools below to check for Virus and Spyware:

FREE Antivirus

  1. Bitdefender - Locate and download the FREE version 10, should be sufficient to check for Viruses, but I would highly recommend you buy the paid version for better protection.
  2. AVG Free Advisor - The famous AVG FREE Antivirus, consume more resources, I would recommend it only if it is FREE!

FREE Spyware Detector

  1. Spy Bot Search And Destroy (Not So Sexy…Just a Plain interface)
  2. Adaware (Nice Interface)
  3. Windows Defender (Microsoft Default Anti Spyware for Vista and XP SP2)

These 3 freeware is not the most effective, but if you want to be sure, another paid 2 Anti Spyware is highly recommended, at least go to download and try.

  1. Webroot SpySweeper
  2. Max Secure Spyware Detector (The fastest, but a bit overkill Anti Spyware) - It will take over your host file (C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetchosts), if you are using host file for what ever reasons, try to set the hosts file to readonly before installing.

Up to the present now your Internet Explorer Slow Down Problem should be solved, if however you still feels the sluggish, you can try to increase your reserved bandwidth…You might not know that all your Network Bandwidth has a 20% reserved? reclaim your reserved bandwidth control by QOS (Quality of Service) driver in Windows XP: Click (Start–>Run) type “gpedit.msc” without the “, this will open the group policy editor. After that go to (Local Computer Policy–>Computer Configuration–>Administrative Templates–>Network–>QOS Packet Scheduler) Limit Reservable Bandwidth, Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth, Select Enabled, Set Bandwidth Limit to (0%). This will ensure your Internet Bandwidth achieve 100% during peak download. Restart your computer.

If the Problem still persists, it is time to Check your software:

  1. If you have recently installed ActiveX or plugin, use a BHO (Browser Helper Objects) manager to disable the BHO Item(s). If you can not find a good BHO Manager, try Registry Easy. If this helps, then isolate each object by re-enable and compare the performance before and after, then permanent disable / remove the BHO that cause problem.
  2. If you have recently installed any software, try to uninstall it, then use a registry cleaner to remove the uninstaller left behind Registry Entries. Remember to restart your PC after cleaning.
  3. If you have Registry Easy, use startup manager to minimize the start-up software, or use “msconfig” (Start=> Run => Type “msconfig”) to disable some services or startup services.
  4. If you have Registry Easy, there is a utility to maximize Internet connection parameters, or you may go to this home page and sign up for a FREE Ebook “Hidden Secret of Windows”, it will show you some advance tuning method.
